Ingredients

  • 1 gallon filtered water (divided)
  • ½ cup dried hibiscus flowers (or 8–10 hibiscus tea bags)
  • 2 tbsp fresh ginger (thinly sliced or grated)
  • ½ cup fresh lemon or lime juice (approx. 3–4 lemons)
  • ⅓ to ½ cup raw honey, maple syrup, or agave
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves
  • Garnish options: Lemon wheels, cucumber slices, fresh berries

Instructions

  1. Brew the Concentrate: Bring 4 cups (1 quart) of water to a boil in a pot. Remove from heat, add dried hibiscus and sliced ginger, cover, and let steep for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Strain & Sweeten: Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a large pitcher, discarding the spent hibiscus and ginger. Stir in the honey or maple syrup while the liquid is warm until fully dissolved.
  3. Dilute & Blend: Pour the tea concentrate into a 1-gallon pitcher or beverage dispenser. Add the remaining 12 cups (3 quarts) of water and stir in the fresh lemon juice.
  4. Infuse & Serve: Gently clap the fresh mint leaves between your hands to release their natural oils, then drop them into the dispenser. Add fresh citrus slices, stir, and serve over ice or room temperature.
